Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Hetty.
But this isn’t a fairytale. There is no happily ever after. Not here.

Hetty meet Hetty.
And Hetty meet Hetty.
You’re both named Hetty?
Yes.
Well, that’s confusing.
Three women with the same name, from different times, with similar stories, find themselves trapped together in a liminal space with no escape. Because of each other, or perhaps in spite of each other, they grapple with the cost of fighting for their right to choose and what freedom looks like for each of them.
Inspired by George Eliot’s Adam Bede and Charlotte Wood’s The Natural Way of Things, this new Australian gothic drama interrogates how we write women as foils for each other, the connection between pregnancy, motherhood, and authorship, and the way that our rights (particularly around abortion and bodily autonomy) are being stripped away under conservative patriarchal structures. A love letter or an attack? You decide.
